Almost every Christ University Central Campus student ends up choosing between three areas. They are all marketed as "near Christ University". They produce completely different daily lives.

SG Palya — the walkable one

SG Palya is the lane network directly behind the campus. It exists almost entirely for Christ students: mess kitchens, photocopy shops, tea stalls, and PG after PG.

You gain: the walk. Two to five minutes to the back gate means no auto budget, no traffic risk before an 8 a.m. class, and the ability to go back to your room between lectures.

You give up: variety. It is a functional student street, not a destination. Nightlife means walking to Koramangala.

Rent: ₹11,000–₹16,000 sharing, ₹20,000–₹26,000 single, meals included.

Koramangala — the one with a social life

Koramangala is the startup and restaurant heart of south Bengaluru. Forum Mall, the 5th Block food strip, cafes that stay open late.

You gain: the best food density in the city, gyms, co-working spaces, and a genuine social scene on your doorstep.

You give up: roughly ₹2,000 a month in autos, 20 to 30 minutes a day in Hosur Road traffic, and about ₹2,000–₹3,000 a month in extra rent. Weekends are loud.

Rent: ₹13,000–₹18,000 sharing, ₹22,000–₹30,000 single.

BTM Layout — the budget one

BTM Layout is one of the largest PG markets in Bengaluru, which means more supply and lower prices, but also far more variance in quality.

You gain: the lowest rents of the three and an enormous choice of buildings.

You give up: 15 to 20 minutes each way, worse at peak. Quality varies sharply building to building, so inspecting in person matters more here than anywhere.

Rent: ₹9,000–₹15,000 sharing.

What most people end up doing

Live in SG Palya, spend weekends in Koramangala. You get the 8 a.m. walk and the Saturday night, and you pay for neither twice.

If that is the plan, our three boys houses — Palace, Paradise and Grande — are all in those SG Palya lanes, between roughly 160 m and 400 m from the back gate.
