Every PG near Christ University advertises a monthly number. Almost none of those numbers mean the same thing. Here is the honest version.
Realistic ranges near the Central Campus (SG Palya, Hosur Road)

The main variable is walking distance. A room 150 m from the back gate carries a real premium over one 1.5 km away, and both will describe themselves as "near Christ University".
Near the Bannerghatta Road Campus (Hulimavu)

Near the Kengeri Campus (Kanmanike, Kumbalgodu)
Rents here run meaningfully lower — sharing rooms with food generally fall in the ₹8,000 to ₹14,000 band. The catch is supply: there are very few genuinely walkable options next to the campus, so the scarcity premium shows up as availability rather than price. Rooms go early.
The costs that are not in the advertised number
- Security deposit — typically one to two months rent, refundable. Ask what gets deducted.
- Mess or food charges — if food is not included, budget ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 a month, and more if you eat out on weekends.
- Electricity — usually included for fans and lights; usually metered separately for AC.
- Laundry — included at some PGs, per-item at others.
- Maintenance or one-time joining fees — ask directly, because these are rarely advertised.
- Notice period — leaving mid-term without notice usually costs a month.
How to compare two PGs honestly
Convert both to a true annual cost:
(monthly rent × 12) + mess bill × 12 + estimated electricity + laundry + one-time fees + (deposit you will not get back)
Then add the commute. An auto at ₹50 each way, twice a day, is roughly ₹2,000 a month — about ₹24,000 a year. That alone closes the gap between a "cheap" PG 3 km away and a walkable one.
